BASF. A major multinational.
Issue: Replacement of a Centrifugal imported pump.
BASF manufactures synthetic tanning agents for which they use high pressure spray driers. One such spray drier used a high speed Centrifugal imported pump which was continuously malfunctioning resulting in replacements of bearings and mechanical seals which are quite expensive apart from the down-time required to carry out the replacements.

Solution
After studying the requirements and the operations we specifcially developed and delivered a High Pressure Triplex Sandwich Diaphragm Pump model TP60SD which is sealless and glandless. One such pump was given for trials. This pump was closely observed during the trial period which was extensive and exhaustive.

Result
Having the confidence in the product, BASF ordered three more pumps for similar applications. Due to the higher efficency of the reciprocating pumps, BASF experienced considerable savings on consumed power. BASF has also put into operation two more pumps of the similar kind with higher capacity for pumping Pentane into their process reactors. For this critical application requiring absolutely leakproof pump our Model TP80SD was supplied.

Issue: Engineering a solution for caustic leakage.
NOCIL were using Plunger Pumps for caustic application. Plunger Pumps have gland packings, which are supposed to leak. Caustic leakage was making the site messy and also gland replacement was a perennial maintenance requirement.

Solution
Our Engineers recommended use of Hydraulically Actuated Diaphragm Pumps. The existing Plunger pumps were converted to Hydraulically Actuated Sandwich Diaphragm pumps.

Result
Currently the site is very clean and the diaphragms changed as per stipulations. The maintenance personnel are now pleased with the solution that was provided. The pumps are working for over five years now.
 
LIQUID CO2 INJECTION FOR PLASTIC FOAM SHEETS
Issue:
 Foam sheet pads are required in ROPP & Crown caps. High pressure liquid CO2 has to be injected into the extruded film. All extruders were originally fitted with imported pumps. The flow accuracy requirement is very high and discharge pressure is between 200 bar to 300 bar.

Solution
Metallic Sandwich Diaphragm pump with three heads was developed to give small flow with high accuracy and negligible pulsation. Several such installations are working successfully.
 
SMALL CAPACITY HIGH PRESSURE AUTOCLAVE APPLICATION
Issue:
There is a requirement for Laboratory Autoclaves for high pressure metering pumps with very low capacity typically 1.0 to 0.5 lit / hr @ 100 to 180 bar.

Solution:
Specially designed Metallic Sandwich Diaphragm Pumps for low flow applications were supplied. Several such installations are working successfully.
 
PUMPS FOR CERAMIC SLURRY SPRAY DRYER
Issue:
Ceramic slurry has to be sprayed thru nozzle in the spray dryer. Ceramic being highly abrasive, needs specially designed diaphragm pump. Most of the plants had imported pumps.

Solution:
Hydraulically actuated sandwich diaphragm pump with special NRV's was developed successfully. Several customers have given repeat orders for these pumps to replace imported pumps.
